    Feb 28, 2026 | 09:45 IRST (01:15 EST) — The first day of open conflict between the United States and Iran resulted in significant losses on both sides. US-led airstrikes targeted Iranian military installations, air defense systems, and strategic facilities in Tehran, Isfahan, and surrounding regions.

    Iranian officials confirmed casualties among military personnel, including members of the Revolutionary Guard, and reported structural damage to key defense sites. Emergency services were deployed across affected cities as civilian areas near military zones suffered blast damage.

    By approximately 14:30 IRST, Iran launched retaliatory ballistic missiles and drones toward US bases in the Gulf region. US defense sources confirmed damage to certain facilities and reported casualties among stationed personnel.

    Global markets reacted sharply, oil prices surged, and several regional airspaces were temporarily restricted as international leaders urged immediate de-escalation.
